Senior year — it’s your time. You’ve worked hard, grown up, and made it to this big milestone. Now it’s time to document it in a way that reflects you — your personality, your style, your story.
As a senior guy, you might not be thinking about what to wear for your photos (yet!), but trust me — what you wear can make a huge impact on how your final images turn out. The right outfit can boost your confidence, help you feel more relaxed during the shoot, and give your photos that polished, professional edge.
Here’s your go-to guide for what to wear for your senior photo session — from casual to classic — featuring local favorites like Fox River Mall stores (J.Crew Outlet, Banana Republic, Express, Vans) and Oshkosh staples like Target and the Gap Outlet.
1. The Formal Look
Dress to impress.
This is the photo your mom will want to frame and hang in the living room — and yes, you’ll probably thank her for it later.
Outfit Ideas:
A full suit with a button-down shirt and tie for that classic, timeless look.
Want something more modern? Try a suit with a T-shirt underneath for a fresh, stylish vibe.
Where to Shop:
Men’s Wearhouse is my top pick. Not only do they carry great suit options, but their customer service is top-notch. They’ll help you find the right fit, and yes — you will wear that suit again (think Prom, college interviews, and beyond).
Banana Republic and Express also offer stylish blazers and tailored pants for a sharp look.
Shoes:
Dress shoes in black or brown are best here — polished, clean, and classic.
Avoid sandals or sneakers with this outfit — they’ll stand out (in a bad way) in your photos.
Pro Tip:
Wrinkles show up in photos! Bring your outfit on a hanger or in a garment bag. I’ll have a spot for you to change during your session.
2. The “Nice But Chill” Look
Think dressy casual — shorts allowed, but make it sharp.
This look strikes the perfect balance: you’re not in full formalwear, but you still look put together. It’s a great middle-of-the-road option that works well for outdoor and urban locations.
Outfit Ideas:
A polo, knit shirt, or short-sleeve button-down shirt paired with khaki shorts or dress shorts.
A linen shirt with rolled-up sleeves can look super cool and breezy for a summer session.
Want something different? Try a lightweight long-sleeve button-down partially tucked into tailored shorts for a mix of classic and modern.
Where to Shop:
J.Crew Outlet and Gap Outlet have awesome options for fitted polos and clean, casual shirts.
Target is great for budget-friendly basics in good colors.
Express carries sharp shorts and modern shirts if you want a more elevated look.
Shoes:
Hey Dudes are a great pick here — stylish, comfy, and they photograph well.
Clean white or neutral-colored sneakers are also a solid option.
Leave the sandals at home (trust me).
3. The Laid-Back Casual Look
Be yourself — but polished.
This is your go-to outfit — the one that feels like you. It’s perfect for the tail end of your shoot or to show off your chill, everyday side.
Outfit Ideas:
A crisp T-shirt, crew neck knit, or solid-color hoodie with your favorite jeans or shorts.
Layer with an open flannel or zip-up for texture and style.
Where to Shop:
Vans at Fox River Mall is perfect for cool graphic tees, hoodies, and laid-back pieces.
Target and Gap Outlet have solid-color tees and great-fitting jeans that aren’t too baggy or too tight.
Shoes:
Your favorite sneakers — clean and comfortable. Nike, Adidas, Vans — whatever feels right to you.
Hey Dudes also work well here.
Again… maybe skip the flip-flops or Crocs for this one.
Bonus Looks: Sports + Hobbies
Show off what you love.
Are you an athlete? A musician? Into gaming or cars or something else that makes you you? Bring it to your session!
Outfit Ideas:
Team jerseys, warm-up shirts, letter jackets, or varsity gear — this is your time to rep your team and show your pride.
A uniform top paired with jeans or joggers works great for casual action shots.
Where to Shop:
Your school’s athletic department, booster club, or even your own closet!
Props You Can Bring:
Footballs, basketballs, cleats, skateboards, headphones, guitar, etc.
Not required, but definitely welcome!
Why Bring Multiple Outfits?
The more outfits you bring, the more photo variety you’ll get — and the more chances we’ll have to capture your style, mood, and personality.
Pro Tip:Bring at least 3 full outfits, and make sure everything is clean, wrinkle-free, and fits well. If you're unsure, bring extras — I’ll help you choose what photographs best.
Final Style Tips:
✔ Solid colors or simple patterns photograph best.✔ Avoid large logos or graphics (unless it’s your school or team).✔ Iron or steam clothes before your session.✔ Shoes matter — don’t forget to wipe them down.✔ Try your outfits on ahead of time and make sure you feel good in them.
Senior year is a once-in-a-lifetime moment — let’s make sure your photos reflect exactly who you are. Whether you go full suit or stick to your favorite tee, what matters most is that your look feels authentic and confident.
When in doubt, text me a photo of your outfit options. I’m always happy to help! Ready to book or ask a question?
